What's the difference between a car and a golf ball?

Alright, alright....let's get this out of the way right now.....What IS the difference between a car and a golf ball? -Tiger Woods can drive a ball 400 yards!!!

It's tough to figure out this year's edition of the Niagara Icedogs. Their 3 wins in November , all on home ice, came against some very, very good hockey clubs. November 5th, they beat Mississauga, the following Thursday, they topped a strong Saginaw team, then edged the vastly improved Ottawa 67's last Saturday night. Problem is, they lost many games against teams that they should be beating. They dropped back to back games to the Erie Otters at the start of the month, lost on the road and at home to the rebuilding Belleville Bulls, fell at home to Peterborough and were shaded 4-3 in Oshawa. When they get top-notch goaltending, as they have most nights, the Icedogs can compete with most teams in the league. Right now, they need two things.....a bounce here and there to go their way, and to have the whole Alex Pietrangelo situation resolved. It's become a big distraction for players and fans alike, not knowing if any roster moves are coming, if the team will have a captain and which direction, rebuild or retool, to take for this season.

-Tiger Woods crashed into a fire hydrant and a tree....he couldn't decide between a wood and an iron!!!

Ran into Pam and Brent Archer the other day........they, along with an army of volunteers, are planning the St. Catharines Falcons booster bash for late February.....details will be posted on this blog, and will be broadcast on 1220 CHSC by Angus Gillespie and I soon......The Archers are typical of the dedicated volunteers who make the Falcons and Golden Horseshoe league successful and fun, and now that Brent is retired, he has a lot more time for golf.....speaking of which.....

-Why did Tiger Wood's wife use the 9 iron to bust his window? -She didn't like the driver!!!

During Saturday night's Icedogs broadcast, had the opportunity to chat with St. Catharines Standard reporter Bill Potrecz during the first intermission. We caught up on a lot of things, including OHL draft picks or former Icedogs playing in the GOJHL. Bill  provides fair, balanced coverage of both the Falcons and Thorold Blackhawks, no easy task, and  has no vested interest in who wins when they play one another......He is a great ambassador for Junior hockey in this area, and should definitely  be joining Mr. Gatecliff someday in the St. Catharines Sports Hall of Fame, although he's way too young yet to even be considered!!!!

-Tiger Woods has a lot of expensive cars-now he has a hole in one!!!

Don't forget Teddy Bear night Friday, December 4th , when the Icedogs host the Sarnia Sting......Good idea to plan it against Sarnia, the 20th place team in the league. The bears should be on the ice in the first 5 minutes.

Ran into the members of the committee looking at a new rink for Niagara in Oshawa last Sunday. They have been to Windsor to check out the WFCU, and were given a tour of G.M. Centre in Oshawa. If they are looking for the perfect rink design,, my vote, and I've seen them all at least once, would go to the Essar  Centre in Sault St. Marie, with the Kingston K-Rock Centre close behind.

Why didn't I make a friendly wager  with TV Cogeco's Steve Clark for this past Sunday's Bills/Dolphins game? He offered, but I declined, having seen my wallet become lighter when they met earlier this season. The Bills of course, triumphed this time. I didn't make any coin, but  had to mention it, if only because I enjoy saying "squish the Fish!!!"

And lastly, I made it out of my driveway this morning.....now I can finally say I can outdrive Tiger Woods!!!!

-Later.....
