The No. 2 nationally-ranked Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks extended their winning streak to 13 games with a 4-1 win over the visiting Western Mustangs on Sunday.
Kristen Kilgallen (Guelph, Ont.) got the start for the Hawks giving netminder Liz Knox (Stouffville, Ont.) a night off. The first year goalie stopped 13 of 14 shots on net for her second win.
Laurier went to work early with Kate Psota (Burlington, Ont.) scoring just under four minutes in off a deflection. Laurier carried most of the play in the first period, out-shooting the visitors 11-3.
Katherine Shirriff (Carrying Place, Ont.) started the second period with a power player marker and her sixth goal of the season. The goal would end up being the game winner. Laura Bartolini (Mississauga, Ont.) made it 3-0 off a nice pass into the slot from Heather Fortuna (Kitchener, Ont.).
The Mustangs got on the board just 21 seconds into the third period off a nice shot form Chantal Morais (Guelph, Ont.) that got over the glove hand of Kilgallen. Devon Skeats (Whitby, Ont.) scored the Hawks' fourth goal with less than three minutes remaining to put the win away.
QUEEN'S 5, UOIT 0
At UOIT, Mel Dodd-Moher (Stittsville, Ont.) made 25 saves for her second career shutout as the No. 7 Queen's Gaels defeated the Ridgebacks 5-0 on Sunday afternoon.
Kelsey Thomson (Martintown, Ont.) also starred for the Gaels registering two goals and an assist.
The Gaels set the tone for the game early on when Becky Conroy (Pembroke, Ont.) scored her 12th of the season just 1:33 into the contest. Kristin Smith (Toronto) and Thomson would also score in the opening frame to give Queen's a comfortable three goal lead after one period.
Both Dodd-Moher and UOIT netminder Jessica Larabie (Pickering, Ont.) stood tall in the second period as each turned aside 10 shots to keep both teams off the board in the frame.
In the third, Thomson would put the game out of reach with her ninth of the season before rookie Carmen Eskesen (Calgary) scored her first career OUA goal to round out the scoring.
Eskesen, Conroy and Smith would all tally two points in the game to complement the offensive output of Thomson.
GUELPH 3, YORK 2
At Guelph, the Gryphons bounced back this weekend picking up two wins including the 3-2 victory over the York Lions Sunday afternoon.
York closed the 2-0 gap Guelph had set up in the first but a late third period goal would give the Gryphons the game. The Gryphons take the win and a boost to their record that now sits at 7-4-2, while the Lions, after winning six-straight games, add a loss leaving them at 8-4-0.
The forward-line of Jenna Lanzarotta (Mississauga, Ont.), Dayna Kanis (Georgetown, Ont.), and Tori Woods (Orangeville, Ont.) was on fire this weekend contributing nine points in the blowout against Toronto and six of the eight points in the win over York. Lanzarotta and Woods each picked up a goal and an assist on Sunday, while Kanis tallied an assist on both goals.
Tamara Bell (Guelph, Ont.) was the other Gryphon scorer, getting the game winner that was set up by defensive player Lucia Mazza (Sudbury, Ont.).
York's goals came courtesy of forwards Mandy Cole (Peterborough, Ont.) and Kristie Wilson (Hamilton, Ont.).
Danielle Skoufranis (Thornhill, Ont.) started between the irons for the Gryphons and played a great game stopping 24 of 26 shots to pick up the win.
TORONTO 2, BROCK 1
At Brock, two first period goals would be all the Toronto Varsity Blues would need as they defeated the Brock Badgers 2-1 on Sunday in St. Catharines, Ont.
With the win, the Blues improve their record to 5-5-1 and sit tied for fifth place in the OUA.
Toronto opened the scoring 12:05 into the game when veteran Annie DelGuidice (Hamilton, Ont.) came rushing down the ice and sent a beautiful pass to fellow assistant captain Emily Milito (Ottawa) who made no mistake finding the back of the net for her fifth goal of the season.
Less than four minutes later, Amanda Fawns (Scarborough, Ont.) tallied what would be the eventual game-winner on a five-on-three advantage. The third-year forward picked up the puck off the face off and wired a shot past Badgers goaltender Beth Clause (Hamilton, Ont.).
After a scoreless second period, Brock would finally get on the board on a power play opportunity with just over six minutes remaining in the game. After a scramble in front of the Blues net, first-year Badgers forward Sara Brady (Thunder Bay, Ont.) spoiled the Blues shut out when she tapped a rebound behind U of T goaltender Melissa Muir (Winnipeg).
Toronto held off any other Brock chances as they skated away with their first victory in three games.
Muir made 22 saves in the victory.
WATERLOO 7, WINDSOR 4
At Waterloo, the Warriors outlasted the Windsor Lancers by a 7-4 count.
The Lancers got on the board quickly with Manon Davis' (Sudbury, Ont.) first of two goals just one minute into the game. Windsor held the lead for 10 minutes before Jessica Tracey (Woodslee, Ont.) tied it up for Waterloo.
In the second, Windsor got two unanswered goals from Samantha Hoover (New Lowell, Ont.) and another from Davis to hold a two-goal lead early in the middle frame.
Waterloo then retaliated with two goals of their own to tie the game again before Cagla Baktiroglu (Cambridge, Ont.) put the Lancers up by one heading into the final period.
The Warriors came into the third with guns blazing as they scored four straight goals to take the win.
LAURIER 1, WINDSOR 0
At Wilfrid Laurier, captain Andrea Ironside (Collingwood, Ont.) scored the lone goal of the contest as the No. 2 Golden Hawks shut out the Windsor Lancers 1-0 at the Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex.

Picking up assists on the goal were forward Katherine Shirriff (Carrying Place, Ont.) and rookie Candice Styles (Orangeville, Ont.).
Netminder Liz Knox (Stouffville, Ont.) picked up her sixth shutout of the season in only her 11th game played. Through the contest she saw only 17 shots on net while Tessier was faced with 42 due to the Hawk attack.
Both teams were perfect on the penalty kill as Laurier killed off only one call while Windsor saw four.

With the victory, Western improves to 5-7-1 with 11 points, good for fifth place in the OUA.
Caitlin Brydges scored on the power play for Waterloo to open the scoring just over four minutes into the game, but Hewins tied the game, also on the power play, to tie the game at 1-1. Liana Tennant (Kitchener, Ont.) scored in the second period to put the Warriors up 2-1, a score which held up to the start of the third period.
Carver and Seedhouse's goals and solid goaltending down the stretch by Jessica Ulrich (Keswick, Ont.) helped Western to victory.
YORK 1, BROCK 0, OT
At Brock, the York Lions recorded their sixth consecutive win on Saturday against the Brock Badgers.
After three periods of scoreless play, the Lions ultimately took the game 1-0 in overtime.
