The No. 2 nationally-ranked Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks scored three goals in the first three minutes of the game en route to a 9-0 victory over the visiting Waterloo Warriors.

Laurier remains undefeated with a 19-0-0 record, while Waterloo falls to 6-11-2 and a tie for eighth place in the OUA.

"Tonight the goal was to play 60 minutes," said Laurier head coach Rick Osborne. "We needed to work on our offence and we played hard right to the end."

Laurier's Kate Psota (Burlington, Ont.) opened the scoring on the power play at just 1:26 into the first period on a nice backhand shot from the side of the net. Candice Styles (Orangeville, Ont.) scored just over a minute later followed by Heather Fortuna (Kitchener, Ont.) at 3:12.

The scoring trend continued in the second with Fiona Lester (Peterborough, Ont.) and Andrea Ironside (Collingwood, Ont.) scoring and Psota picking up her second of the match. Kaley Powers (Kingston, Ont.) picked up her 10th of the season in the third and both Ironside and Styles scored their second of the game. Styles had a five point night and is now third on the team in points with 18.

In the third both teams got into penalty trouble, slowing down the pace of the game. Laurier went 3-for-9 with the man-advantage while the Warriors went 0-for-6

"This weekend reinforced the depth in lines one through four for us," said Osborne. In the Hawks previous game against the Warriors, a 4-1 win, each of the goals came from a different line.

The Hawks peppered the visiting Warriors with shots, 48 all told. Waterloo fired 16 at Hawk netminder Liz Knox (Stouffville, Ont.) who picked up her ninth shutout of the season.

Laurier will continue their home stand on Friday, Jan. 22 when they host the Windsor Lancers at 7:30 p.m.
