St.Catharines, Ontario - The Niagara DareDevils team headed over to Westlane Secondary School yesterday, to help the athletic department raise funds. The players put on a show for the 200 students who bought a “ticket out of class” to watch the DareDevils showcase their talent. The Athletic Department charged $2 to each student in attendance in order to fundraise money for their student athletes.

The event included an exciting slam dunk contest that was judged by a panel of students. Matt Luedtke, the 6’2” guard, managed to generate the most ruckus from the stands when he leaped over 6’8 forward Joe Buck and one handed the ball into the net for the win. Matt demonstrated his versatility when he also won the 3-point competition and then went on to speak to the students, alongside Steve Horne, about adversity and the passion required to be successful.

The team is looking forward to performing more exciting events in the community in the near future. If any schools or local basketball clubs are interested in booking the DareDevils for a promotional appearance, please contact Lori Garbarz at lgarbarz@niagaradaredevilsbasketball.com
