St.Catharines, Ontario - The DareDevils recorded their first win in franchise history Saturday night as they defeated the Strong Island Sound by a final score of 153-98. The team’s improvement since last week’s home opener was tremendous, with eight DareDevils reaching the double digits. Every player on Niagara’s twelve-man roster was able to contribute to the score tally, with Eric Walton’s 25pts leading the pack.

Despite the score, Strong Island played a hard- fought game. The visiting squad’s challenge was made all the more difficult as they fielded only a six- man roster. In the second half, fatigue began to set in for the six Strong Island players. As their defensive skills waned, the DareDevils took advantage to score 85pts. With only one substitute, every member of Strong Island was integral to their team’s attack, with Eric Thompson leading the offence with 28pts.

The DareDevils took advantage of their tired opponents all throughout the game, by pressuring them with strong full court defence. Niagara forced thirty-one turnovers, several of which invoked the 3- D Rule, further adding 8pts to Niagara’s total.

Once the DareDevils secured a comfortable lead, they began to treat the fans to some exciting hoops. Leroy Hickerson stole the show on multiple occasions, by transforming the game into a slam dunk contest. Eric Walton also had a few highlights of his own, including a jaw dropping dunk off an alley- oop from Majestic Mapp and LB Abney played an aggressive second half, scoring 13 of his 19pts.

The DareDevils play their next game on November 19th, 2005 against the Newark Express.
