The Niagara DareDevils defeated the Newark Express 118-116 in front of a full house at AN Myer School.  The game was an entertaining contest with both teams playing exciting basketball featuring numerous slam dunks.

The game starting slowly for the DareDevils.  Two consecutive back court turnovers allowed Newark to take a 33-27 lead after the first quarter.

Niagara turned up the heat in the second quarter.  A back court steal by the DareDevils gave them a 55-48 lead with 5:00 remaining in the half.  Niagara maintained the 7 point lead to end the half with a 67-60 lead.

The third quarter saw Newark steadily chip away at the DareDevils lead.  The quarter ended with the Express in front 94-90.

The two teams traded baskets in the fourth quarter and were deadlocked at 111-111 with exactly two minutes remaining in the game.  Niagara took the lead with about 30 seconds remaining only to have Newark race down the floor and hit a three pointer to once again tie the game.

With Niagara in possession of the ball, Newark was issued a non-shooting foul which allowed the DareDevils to regroup and set up for the finish.  After the in-bounds pass, the DareDevils hit a two pointer with under 10 seconds remaining.  The Express were unable to hit the equalizer giving the DareDevils an exciting 118-116 victory.

Eric Walton lead the DareDevils with 27 points while Reggie Warren and Matt Luedtke had 18.  Davin White contributed 13 points and Joe Buck had 10.

Marcus Toney had 26 points for Newark while Mufeed Thomas had 22.

The DareDevils next home game is Sunday November 27th when the Buffalo Rapid come to town.  Game time is 3:00.

Note:  Due to a logistical problem, the DareDevils were unable to have their rented basketball floor delivered to the Jack Gatecliff Arena in time for the game.  Forced to find an alternative venue, the team was able to secure the AN Myer school gymnasium only hours before the scheduled start of the game.  Team President Al Howell said he hopes to have the flooring issue cleared up by next weeks home game.
