DareDevils Announce First Player Signing

Majestic Puts Himself on the Mapp in Niagara

St.Catharines, ON - Aug 30th, 2005 The Niagara DareDevils Basketball Club announced today the signing of former McDonalds High School All-American Majestic Mapp.

Mapp, a 6'1" point guard, who played his high school ball at Saint Raymond's in Harlem, NY was one of the most heralded point guards to come out of New York City when he signed with Virginia in 1999.

"Any time you are able to sign a player of this magnitude, it's great for the team," said coach Otis Hailey "Majestic is a very talented and athletic player who I feel will bring a lot to the table for the Niagara DareDevils."

At the height of his collegiate career, he was the starting point guard for the Virginia Cavaliers; at the depth, he was working countless hours rehabbing a torn right ACL that he suffered in a pick-up game at St. Raymonds. The injury cost him five surgeries, his scholarship at the ACC powerhouse, and two years off of the court.

Magic as he's often referred to "possesses all of the talent necessary to excel in the NBA, and his knee is as strong as it was before the injury," says Barry Benzing of Empire Professional Sports Management in Manhattan. "His doctors and therapists have given him the green light with no caveats and no asterisks, and most importantly, he feels great."

Majestic will be in Niagara on October 14th to complete physicals and prepare for training camp.
