Knights Bubble Burst Against the Petes

What difference 24 hours makes, London had looked like the team that was ranked number 2 in the BMO/CHL rankings, but certainly not in this game before a disappointed crowd at the Budweiser Gardens. As it always seems to be on a Friday night London faces a goaltender who stands on his head, thus night was no different. Petes goalie Matthew Mancina made 30 saves on the night, at least a quarter of those were solid scoring chances. Brendan Burke got the start in the London net and don’t expect to see him against the Sting on Sunday, not that the loss was solely on his shoulders, but he could have played better. When he isn’t aggressive in his crease he tends to let a soft goal or two past him and this was one of those nights. Mancina kept the Pete’s up 2-1 after 20 minutes with save after save on the Knights and it seemed any chance that Peterborough had come off a Mancina stop at the other end. The Pete’s scored a pair in less than a minute, with Pete Greg Betzhold getting his 30th of the season after Knight defenceman Chris Martinet recorded his first goal of the season just over two minutes into the game.
Mancina shut the door from there including a stop on a breakaway on Cliff Pu, until the Knights got one back on the power play early in the third to tie it at 2-2. Burke was not so fortunate on a goal by Pete’s captain Eric Cornel who deked him to give Peterborough a 3-2 lead and make it a frantic finish. London would not continue their magic on this night as Jonathan Ang would bury the empty netter to make it a 4-2 final and a disappointing game on all aspects for the Knights.

A little about myself , first and foremost I’m a hockey fan,  I have been involved with hockey in one form or another since I was a little kid.  I remember going to the old London Gardens watching the London Knights ,  I was a fan from that moment and have followed them ever since . This is the second year that I will be reporting on the Knights and I am looking forward to a long playoff run with this version of the Green and Gold.
