Knights Coming Together as a Team

The London Knights completed 6 games in only 9 days. In those games their only blemish was a Shootout loss to the defensive minded Owen Sound Attack. The Knights were undefeated in regulation time for the month of November and not only are leading the Western Division in points, but are tops in the OHL. London did suffer a significant loss in the victory over the Barrie Colts on Friday, arguably their best forward Max Jones was lost for an undetermined amount of time after taking a puck to his open hand. He did not return to the lineup on friday and was not dressed for the Saturday game against the Guelph Storm and as of this article no timetable has been set for his return to the lineup or the severity of the injury. He will be a big loss for the Knights, but as has happened throughout this season someone will step up and fill his role on the top line.
A trade that seemingly went under the radar on November 7th involving the Knights and Barrie Colts may well be the missing piece the Knights are in need of. Barrie sent forward Adrian Carbonara and a 3rd round draft pick to London in exchange for a Knights 2nd round pick in 2020. The 6’2″ 190lb Carbonara brings a physical presence to the Knights that is lacking at the forward position. Besides Max Jones the Knights are a small team, that is built on speed and in this day and age of hockey is paramount to success. Against the Windsor Spitfires a big and hard nosed team he was a controlling factor throughout the Knights 3-2 OT victory. Forward Brady Pataki was brought in early this season from Sudbury to fill the same role but has been largely ineffective in a Knights uniform. The Knights are one of, if not the smallest team in the league and without a doubt the fastest and skilled. With a veteran defence this allows the Knight to run and gun without the possibility of giving up odd man rushes the other way. Goaltender Tyler Parsons has been nothing less than spectacular this season and has his spot on Team USA in the upcoming WJC all but guaranteed.
London is off until this coming weekend, with a pair of home games against the Owen Sound Attack on Friday and then the Annual Teddy Bear Toss on Sunday afternoon against the Flint Firebirds.
