Knights Continue Their March to the Top

The London Knights have won 4 games in a row before stumbling to the lowly Saginaw Spirit to share top spot in the OHL standings with the Erie Otters. Albeit the Otters have a game in hand and the Knights will embark on a lengthy road trip as the Monster Trucks invade Budweiser Gardens. The Knights cruised to a shutout victory and gave the Owen Sound Attack their first regulation time loss since December 4th. It was the second time that the Knights defeated the Attack within a week and the game on Friday night was a dominant 4-0 performance from the Knights. London has struggled with the defensive zone coverage that the Attack employ and until the last pair of games the Attack appeared to have the Knights number. But the coaching staff of London seems to have figured out Owen Sound coverage and using the Knights superior speed have kept the Attack chasing the puck and not being allowed to control the play.

As I have mentioned on numerous occasions Tyler Parsons is the key cog in the Knights machine. In this current winning streak Parsons has recorded 2 shutouts with a pair of 4-0 wins. He outplayed Michael McNiven of the Owen Sound Attack by a wide margin. Arguably the best 2 goalies in the OHL they have duelled over the past 2 seasons in some epic contests and McNiven was the only goalie to stop the Knights last season in the playoffs.

London is currently ranked number 3 in the CHL rankings only trailing the Erie Otters and the number one team in the country the Regina Pats. The other OHL teams in the top ten are the Soo Greyhounds at number 5 and the aforementioned Owen Sound Attack at number 9. The Knights are rounding into form and are looking to secure home ice throughout the playoffs but can’t afford too many stumbles like they had on Saturday evening in a 4-1 loss to the Spirit. This time it was the Spirit with the hot goaltender as Evan Cormier stymied the Knights on all but one of 41 shots he faced. London looked uninspired at times and trailed 4-0 after 40 minutes and as the Knights fully expected to roll past the Spirit and looked to the third period to pull out a victory, but they ran into Cormier and the veteran goaltender was up for the task. The Knights are on the road for 3 more games before once again welcoming the Owen Sound Attack to the Bud.
AS ALWAYS SEE YOU AT THE GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
