Stevenson nets winner for Falcons

Game #2 of the quarterfinal series between the Stoney Creek Warriors and the St. Catharines Mountainview Homes Falcons kicked off Saturday night from Valley Park Arena, as all 8 teams in the league had playoff action.

The Stoney Creek Warriors repeated Friday night's first period performance Saturday night when they went up 2-0 over the Falcons at the first intermission. Riley Steeves (PP) and Mike Kavanagh (SH) both scored for the Warriors, beating Falcons netminder Steele De Fazio at the 15:08 and 19:05 minute marks, respectively.

The Falcons tied the game up in the second period with two power-play goals of their own. Daultan Leveille scored his first two goals of the postseason, which were power-play goals, 2:14 and 4:05 into the second period. Mike Kavanagh added a power-play goal to his short-handed goal from the first period to make the score 3-2 in favour of Stoney Creek at the second intermission.

Down by a goal in the third period, the Falcons repeated their third period performance from Friday night and beat Warriors goaltender Patrick Sullivan with two even-strength goals from Brad Jackson and Chris Stevenson in the third to win Game #2 of the first round series by a score of 4-3. With the win, the Falcons take a (2-0) series lead over the Warriors.

Game #3 of the best-of-seven series takes place inside Jack Gatecliff Arena on Monday, March 3rd. The puck drops at 7:30pm sharp!
