If the Warriors were worried about coming into Jack
Gatecliff Arena down two games to none, they didn't show it
Monday night as they opened Game #3 of the quarterfinal
series with a 3-goal first period effort.
Greg Bryl opened the scoring in the first for Stoney
Creek, netting his third goal of the postseason just 26
seconds into the game. Mike Kavanagh made it 2-0 for the
Warriors at the 6:34 mark with his third goal of the
playoffs.
Stoney Creek made it 3-0 in front of a silenced Falcons
crowd when Jordan Winger beat Falcons goaltender Steele De
Fazio at the 7:40 minute mark, grabbing his first goal of
the series.
The Falcons then turned the tables on the visiting Stoney
Creek Warriors - they scored three goals of their own in a
row, to tie the game 3-3 by the 13:49 mark of the first.
Chris Stevenson netted the first two Falcons goals, one on
the power-play, while Brad Jackson's power-play goal tied
the game to the many loud cheers inside JGA.
Mike Stone gave St. Catharines their first lead Monday
night when he scored an even-strength goal for the Falcons
at 14:52 of the first. The Falcons kept pounding the
Warriors for their early offensive outburst by grabbing
their fifth goal of the game when JT MacDonald scored a
power-play marker at the 15:57 mark, still of the first
period. The period finally ended with the Falcons leading
the Warriors 5-3.
Chris Stevenson notched his fifth goal of the playoffs
and recorded a hat-trick Monday night when he scored his
third goal of the game just 1:03 into the second period. The
Falcons fourth power-play goal gave them a 6-3 lead well
before the halfway point of the game. The second period
ended with the Falcons still owning a 6-3 lead.
The Falcons added to their 3 goal in the third period
when Vladimir Bessonov scored on the power-play at the 7:12
minute mark. Zack Jones and Riley Sheahan assisted on the
Falcons seventh goal of the match.
Other than the first 7:40 of the first period, the
Warriors remained scoreless and the game ended with the
Falcons winning Game #3 by a score of 8-3.
Attendance inside JGA Monday night was announced at 368
fans.
Game #4 of the best-of-seven series takes place Thursday,
March 6th, from Valley Park Arena in Stoney Creek. Game time
is 7:30pm.
If the Warriors force a Game #5, it will take place
Friday, March 7th, inside Jack Gatecliff Arena at St.
Catharines. The puck would drop at 7:30pm if necessary. |
