After watching the action from the bench Friday night while
Adrian Volpe backstopped for the Falcons, Steele De Fazio
hit the ice Saturday night in fine fashion, closing the door
on the Port Colborne Sailors stopping all 33 shots faced and
recording a 2-0 shutout victory for St. Catharines.
Falcons forward Daultan Leveille jumped to the front of
the Falcons scoring race with 49 points, grabbing a goal and
an assist Saturday evening. Leveille's line scored both
goals against Port Colborne as linemate Chris Stevenson
netted the first goal of the night in the second period.
Brad Jackson and Leveille assisted on the goal at 4:31.
Leveille's goal just under eight minutes later in the
same period was assisted by Jackson and Stevenson. The three
players netted two points each, the only action Saturday
night, while Steele took home the shutout for the Falcons
23rd win of the season.
The win brought the Falcons into a tie for first place
overall with the Niagara Falls Canucks at 53 points. The
Canucks have played one less game than the Mountainview
Homes Falcons.
The Falcons next game is at home this Friday, February
1st, when the Port Colborne Sailors try to extract revenge
on the Falcons when they visit Jack Gatecliff Arena. Game
time in St. Catharines is set for 7:30pm. |
