The Soo franchise of the Continental Professional Hockey League would like to announce the new nickname and unveil their logo.

League Director of Franchise Development Chris Schweitzer came up with the Stampede name and logo.

"I put a lot thought into what would suit Sault Ste. Marie for a team nickname and logo," says Schweitzer. "The name and logo are what I would consider a strong name and the logo follows right along with that. They will both represent the Soo very well."

The team colors will be white, black, maroon and gold.

"We are excited about the name and logo to represent Sault Ste. Marie," says League President Jim Cashman. "We feel the fans will really like the name and even more so the logo that will represent their city."

The team schedule will be released soon.
